Stay At Our Farm

Larson Farm has always been a vibrant place. We home-schooled our 8 children here. They all worked on the farm, learned many skills, and all but one have moved onto other careers. Our youngest daughter, Mercy, manages the dairy herd. She shares our love for the land and animals, and does a wonderful job.

What are we to do with this big old farmhouse? Why, offer Farm Stays, of course, and welcome people who want to experience farm life. People who remember what it was like as a child to visit Grandpa’s farm, run barefoot down the farm lane to help bring in the cows for milking, or to help stack hay, or feed the baby calves.

The farmhouse was built in the 1930s and recently renovated, but retains its period charm. There is a large fully-equipped eat-in kitchen, living room with wood stove, and upstairs, three bedrooms and a full bathroom. If needed, another bedroom with private sitting area and private bath are also available. Floors are all narrow hardwood. From the large screened-in porch on back, you can sip morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the mountain. Our guests can prepare their own meals, visit area restaurants, and for breakfast there is the delightful Wells Country Store, ¾ mile walk from the farmhouse.

Be Our Guest!

Guests are welcome to hike the fields, climb the mountain, or accompany the farm staff on their dairy chores. There are also many local destinations including:

  1. 20 miles to Manchester, VT with historic Hildene, the Todd Lincoln estate, and lots of good restaurants and shopping outlets, including Orvis.

  2. 5 miles to Granville, NY, with the Stone Valley Slate Museum (slate quarries are still an important economic resource in this area), the Pember Museum with small but very interesting historic taxidermy collection,

  3. 3 miles to the Mettawee River, a well-known regional trout stream,

  4. 35 miles to the Killington Ski Resort,

  5. 3 miles to the boat launch at Lake St. Catherine, and

  6. One hour drive to Saratoga with summer Thoroughbred racing and fine dining.
